The Mixing Notes is built on a simple belief: the best bar recommendations come from honest, independent experience, not press trips or sponsored content. We visit anonymously, pay our own way, and write only about what we genuinely find worth your time. Our mission is to be the most trusted guide to cocktail bars around the world.
How We Review
Anonymous Visits
We never announce ourselves. Every visit is incognito, we experience the bar exactly as any guest would.
Multiple Visits
One visit isn't enough. We return at different times, on different nights, to get the full picture before publishing.
We Pay Our Own Way
Every tab is paid in full. No comps, no press invites, no industry favours. Financial independence is editorial independence.
Transparent Scoring
Our ratings are based on drink quality, atmosphere, service, and value. Each factor is weighted and the methodology is public.
