Instructions
- If desired, rim half the glass with salt by running a lime wedge around the edge and dipping in salt.
- Add tequila, lime juice, and triple sec to a shaker with ice.
- Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
Notes
The Margarita likely emerged in Mexico in the 1930s or 1940s. Use a good-quality 100% agave tequila blanco. Cointreau or a quality triple sec makes a noticeable difference. For a spicier variation, muddle a slice of jalapeno before shaking.
