Instructions
- Add rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice to a blender with a cup of ice.
- Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a highball glass or hurricane glass.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a cherry.
Notes
The Piña Colada became the official drink of Puerto Rico in 1978, though its origins are disputed. Use real coconut cream (like Coco Lopez), not coconut milk. For a shaken rather than blended version, shake all ingredients hard with ice and strain over crushed ice. A split base of white and aged rum adds complexity.
